The Department of Health (DoH) in Central Visayas assured that the temperature storage of vaccines has not been affected by the more than five-hour power outage last week.
DoH-7 regional director Dr. Jaime Bernadas said that the temperature ideal for vaccine storage was maintained despite the blackout and contingency plans have been followed and have ensured that the vaccine supplies are still stored in their ideal temperature.
“We encourage all vaccination centers to follow the recommended regular temperature monitoring of vaccine storage and review their contingency plans for any possible disaster that may happen,” Bernadas said.
“We also remind all implementing units to consume their vaccines in the shortest amount of time to minimize large inventory that may be affected at this time,” he added.
To recall, a power interruption that lasted for five hours was experienced in Central Luzon and affected parts of the province of Cebu and the cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu and the province of Bohol.
