Philippine National Police chief General Guillermo Eleazar vowed to bring before the bar of justice the killer of tabloid executive and former editor Gwenn Salamida.
Eleazar said that the “cold-blooded” and “cowardly” killing of Salamida and the shooting of her companion Oliver Perona were committed right in the presence of her two young daughters.
The angle of embezzlement concerning her businesses, including the sale of jewelry, has been discounted by police probers as a possible motive for the apparent contract killing.
“There are many other developments that I cannot disclose,” Eleazar said. “Rest assured that no matter how difficult, we will work to attain justice in the name of Gwenn’s very young daughters.”
“Her eldest, my goddaughter, needs immediate intervention to avoid trauma,” Eleazar added.
Salamida was shot dead while Perona sustained bullet wounds in the 17 August attack in their Gott Salon and Spa which opened just two months ago.
The Quezon City Police District has created a special investigation task force to look into the killing of Salamida, a former online editor of the tabloid Remate and advertising executive of its rival Saksi.
Eleazar ordered investigators to unmask the hired killer and the mastermind as they have already discounted robbery as the motive for the killing.
