The Mobile Legends: Professional League has finally taken action against Omega Esports’ Grant Duane “Kelra” Pillas after he went viral for his homophobic slur over Blacklist International’s Johnmar “OhMyv33NUS” Villaluna and Danerie James “Wise.” Del Rosario.
In a recent livestream, the MSC 2021 champion and MPL Season 7 runner-up was heard saying, “Wise and Veenus bl**j*b each other.”
A public apology has been made but now he has to face the music coming from the MPL Committee.
“Considering the severity and seriousness of the violations, the MPL-Philippines Operating Committee has decided on the following penalties for Grant Duane “Kelra” Pillas and Omega Esports,” MPL wrote in a statement.
“1. Suspension for Grant Duane “Kelra” Pillas for two (2) weeks or fourteen (14) days starting from the first day of the MPL-Philippines Season 8 Regular Season. 2. Issuance of serious warning to Grant Duane “Kelra” Pillas and Omega Esports 3. An imposed fine to Grant Duane “Kelra” Pillas.”
Besides the suspension, Kelra will also undergo a Gender Sensitivity and Sexual Harassment Awareness Training Seminar.
MPL Season 8 was originally scheduled to kick off on August 13 but has been moved to an indefinite date after Metro Manila was put again in Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
