A tricycle driver was killed and two others were injured after a 12-wheeler dump truck reportedly lost control and crashed into a sari-sari store in Barangay San Jose, Antipolo City on Saturday morning.
The fatality in the accident at Sitio Junction, Barangay San Jose was identified as Charly Dave Dapapac, 22, a resident of Sitio Tagbac, in the said barangay.
Injured were Rosita Alsonado, 67, a resident of this barangay; and Arnold Gravador, 26, a resident of Sta. Maria, Bulacan province.
The Antipolo police reported that the truck, driven by Romeo Gacho, was traversing the provincial road heading towards Cemex when its brakes reportedly malfunctioned while negotiating the downhill portion of the road.
It sideswiped an Isuzu Hi-Lander and two motorcycles as it careened downhill. It then rammed the sari-sari store, some parked motorcycles and the victim’s tricycle, police said.
Gacho is facing reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, injuries and damage to properties charges. The cost of the damages was still being ascertained at press time.
