Makati City Mayor Abby Binay has placed under a one-day lockdown 25th Avenue in Barangay East Rembo to pave the way for the conduct of swab tests, after four deaths due to Covid-19 were reported in the area.
Personnel of the City Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (CESU) arrived yesterday at the street for the whole day swabbing of all residents, including the families of the Covid fatalities.
Apparently, the victims were on home quarantine as they showed symptoms of infection. However, the patients died though city health personnel have been monitoring their conditions.
Because of this, Mayor Binay ordered the deployment of CESU personnel to conduct swab tests and to assure residents the city government is there to help them in the event they exhibit symptoms.
Meanwhile, Makati City residents who tested positive for Covid-19, have mild symptoms and are on home quarantine will be receiving this week home care packages from the city government.
Binay ordered the distribution of the Covid packages to infected residents to help them monitor and care for themselves right in their homes.
“We have seen to it that the contents of our home care packages are useful and responsive to their needs,” she said.
Each Covid home care package contains a Covid-19 Home Care Handbook, alcohol, oral antiseptic, sore throat spray, fever pad, thermometer, washable and disposable face masks, pulse oximeter, vitamins and medicine for fever.
