Delta variant strikes in Navotas

Navotas City Mayor Toby Tiangco announced last night that seven people have been affected by the Delta variant of Covid-19 in the city.
According to the Department of Health, seven of those affected by the new strain have recovered and their close contacts have been isolated.
Dr. Anna Ong-Lim said in the city situationer on Saturday, the Delta variant is very easy to spread and possibly more deadly “so we must really be careful”.
The city government also reminded everyone to stay at home as much as possible: “If having a cough, cold or fever, do not ignore it, consult doctor immediately or take a swab test.”
The city government also encouraged everyone to also wear a face mask that covers the nose and mouth and follow other safety health protocols.
On the part of the city government swab testing is 24/7; they are also doing 2nd and 3rd generation contact tracing; and immediate transportation of covid patients to isolation facilities.
“We have reduced the number of cases before. We can also handle the challenge of the Delta variant as long as we work together. Join us in ending the pandemic,” the mayor added.
