Having renewed her contract with GMA Network last 29 July, 24-year-old actor Sanya Lopez laid out her wish list for roles if given the chance: A lone superhero and a lesbian.

Having played Sang’gre Danaya in Encantadia and lesbian breadwinner RJ in an episode of Wish Ko Lang, Sanya said in a recent media conference that she wants to take on something new in each role.

As a superhero, she wants to try “having everything depend on her alone.”

In taking on another lesbian role, Sanya said: “(In my experience in Wish Ko Lang), pang-isang beses lang kasi siya eh (It was a one-time thing).”

But, Sanya added, she has since looked for the feeling of being paired with another woman.

For everything that we went through making First Yaya, it’s very difficult to let it go.

“I really want to be challenged (when it comes to roles). I want more challenging roles as well,” she said.

Sanya’s last major stint was as Yaya Melody in My First Yaya opposite Gabby Concepcion. She also hopes to explore more in the genre of romantic comedy. She was also the leading lady of Bong Revilla in Ang Agimat ng Agila. Both series concluded on 1 and 24 July, respectively.

Of course, no matter what project GMA offers her in the future, she’s down to do it. “I have trust in them. Everything that happened to me is all because of them, so I have so much trust in them,” Lopez said.

Lopez boasts of her good relationship with the Kapuso network, adding: “And in return, they listen to me for my suggestions, thoughts about the project.”

She still hopes for a continuation of My First Yaya. “For everything that we went through making First Yaya, it’s very difficult to let it go. I had with me such an amazing cast and directors. It was written beautifully, so nakakapanghinayang kung hanggang dito lang,” she said.

“I really hope that they’ll give us a chance. Not just for me, but for the people the series has touched — I really hope we’ll have another run.”
