Knott places 5th in the preliminary stage

Filipina trackster Kristina Knott failed to book a semifinals slot after a fifth place-finish in the preliminary stage of the women’s 200m event in Tokyo National Stadium on Monday.

The 25-year old athletics star clocked at 23.80 seconds on her first-ever Olympic race, falling short from making it to the top 24 that will advance in the quarterfinals.

Only the top three runners of their heat made it to the semis.

Jenna Prandini of United States topped their bracket with a stellar 22.56s finish, followed by Gina bass of Gambia at 22.74s and Riley Day of Australia at 22.94s.
