Tudela, Cebu Mayor Greman “Jojo” Solante on Thursday said that vaccine hesitancy in the municipality has decreased after the local government embarked on an intensified information campaign to convince residents to be inoculated against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
In a radio interview, Solante said that they have finally solved the problem of hesitancy among town residents.
“Previously, we’re getting a high denial rate in the town, but since we intensified our efforts to inform the citizens through information and education campaigns, vaccine hesitancy has been steadily decreasing,” Solante said.
The town mayor recalled that after the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) was declared in Cebu, the local government implemented its own measures.
“We initiated border control after ECQ was declared,” Solante said. “And to ensure that residents will be given aid, we have tapped our local habal-habal organizations to assist our residents.”
Solante disclosed that the local government has entered an agreement with two habal-habal organizations to assist residents during the lockdown.
