Almost 100 percent of the target senior citizens of Pasig City are now vaccinated, Mayor Vico Sotto said Monday.

“Almost all senior citizens who are residing in Pasig are already inoculated,” Sotto said during the Department of Health media briefing.

Sotto said as of 24 July, a total of 45,098 senior citizens who belong to the A2 priority group in Pasig City have received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.

Meanwhile, a total of 36,027 individuals have taken their second dose.

However, he clarified that vaccination for senior citizens is still ongoing.

“As much as the target is concern, we have reached 100 percent for first dose and almost all have received their second dose,” he added.

He said “word of mouth” helped them convince the senior citizens in the city who are usually hesitant to get vaccinated.

The mayor explained, the city’s older population was enticed by testimonies directly from people who are close or related to them.

He also said the city implemented a “multiple doors of entry” strategy which made it easier for his older constituents to register and get vaccinated.

In multiple doors of entry strategy, he said senior citizens can register via online or manually in barangay health centers in Pasig.

He said city’s senior citizen may register online by going to byt.ly/profiling_SC.

“Because not all of them have an access to internet or others have internet but not that tech savvy,” he said.
