United City FC failed to grab a win as it fell short against Kawasaki Frontale FC of Japan, 2-0, in the AFC Champions League in Tashkent, Uzbekistan late Monday.

The UCFC was not able to seek revenge after the powerhouse Japanese squad pushed the Filipinos deeper in the standings and handed them their fourth consecutive defeat in the prestigious tournament.

The result was still an improved performance from United City, who absorbed a painful 0-8 drubbing on its first encounter with Kawasaki on Friday.

Despite fielding a younger lineup on the pitch, the four-time Philippine Football League champion team was still outmatched by Kawasaki, which registered a dominating 75% possession throughout the match.

Striker Kei Chinen opened the scoring in the 18th minute and Tatsuya Hasegawa’s strike in the 78th minute further cemented Kawasaki’s position on top of the standings.

United City will continue its hunt for a first win when is it faces Beijing Guoan FC on 8 July.
