Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday said she has yet to decide what government position she will pursue in the 2022 elections.
“The truth is we are still in the process of assessing many things. So, we are still thinking, it is not something like ‘I want a position,’ there are many considerations,” Robredo said in her weekly radio program “BISErbisyong LENI.”
She said it is too early to decide on her electoral bid since she is considering many things.
She cited the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic as one of the reasons why her plan for next year’s elections was put on hold.
“What delayed it is Covid-19. Maybe, if there is no Covid, we are already focused on the next election,” she said.
“But because Covid-19 happened, we are focusing there,” she added.
However, she denied claims that she will not run for governor of Camarines Sur contrary to the statement of Camarines Sur Representative Luis Raymund Villafuerte that he is certain that Robredo will not run for provincial’s gubernatorial post.
“For quite some time, there were people who were saying I have already decided to run for governor, that is not true. Now, there is this one person who is saying that he is certain that I will not run for governor, it is not true. Because all of them are options,” she said.
Robredo said should she make her final decision, it will come directly from her and not from somebody else.
“It is really funny because they are making decisions for us. For me, I will reiterate what I have said, in case I have made a decision, it will come from me,” she added.
Villafuerte said he is 99.9 percent sure that the Vice President will not run for governor in Camarines Sur, instead, he believes that she will rather choose to run for the presidency in 2022.
Contrary to his claims, former Camarines Sur Rep. Rolando Andaya earlier claimed that Robredo was preparing to run for governor of the province.
