Kaya, United City routed

Filipino club teams Kaya FC and United City FC suffered humiliating defeats late Tuesday which dampened their respective campaigns in the AFC Champions League.

Kaya absorbed its second straight defeat in as many outings as it fell prey to an aggressive Viettel FC side, 0-5 at the Pathum Thani stadium in Thailand.

The Vietnamese club immediately jumped on Kaya with Nguyen Hoang Duc’s tap seeing the back of the net just two minutes in. Brazilian forward Caique doubled Viettel’s lead five minutes later.

It was all Viettel in the second half as team captain Bui Ten Dung, Caique, and Vu Minh Tuan scoring to secure the Vietnamese club’s first win.

Meanwhile, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the overmatched defending PFL champions UCFC tasted a crushing 0-7 defeat at the hands of Daegu FC of Korea.

Cescina, Edgar, and Kim Jin Hyuk opened the onslaught in first half before Ahn Yong Woo took over in the second half with a brace as Park Han Bin and Jung Chi In joined the scoring fray.

Up next for UCFC, which opened its campaign with a draw, is Kawasaki Frontale of Japan on 2 July at 10 p.m. Kaya take on defending champion Ulsan Hyundai FC of Korea also on 2 July.
