The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) hailed seven companies which have exhibited sustainability efforts. The virtual ceremony was held last 11 June.
Volvo Cars Philippines won the Smart and Safe Mobility award while Shell Philippines garnered the Clean and Efficient Energy Award.
Food and beverage corporations Pilmico Foods and Coca-Cola were given the Sustainable Food and Nutrition and Water Resource Management awards. Finance-related awards were acquired by fast fashion brand H&M and CreditBPO Tech that got the Circular Economy and Inclusive Finance Solutions awards, respectively.
During the virtual ceremony, ECCP executive director Florian Gottein shared that despite having Europa Awards for the first time, the organization received an overwhelming number of 70 entries. With the help of their esteemed judges ranging from ambassadors to social enterprise leaders, the entries were narrowed down into 22 finalists then into the seven victors.
Launching the awards during the pandemic is timely as the importance of sustainability becomes more highlighted. The ceremony also nudged other companies to use resources to effect positive change among their constituents while taking care of the planet.
To supplement the Europa Awards, ECCP also launched the Sustainability Whitebook during the ceremony. The publication sheds light on areas of mobility, energy, circular economy, agriculture, finance and water management.
EuroPH membership magazine was likewise unveiled during the ceremony. This includes in-depth accounts of the winners and contributed articles of judges and event partners.
“The number of nominations we received demonstrates the growing commitment of the business community to adopt sustainable business practices in their core plans and strategies,” Gottein said.
