PORAC, Pampanga — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is now fast-tracking the construction of river bank protection of the Pasig-Potrero River to protect the Mancatian Bridge.

DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said that the river bank protection will prevent riverbed degradation and exposure of the pile foundations of Mancatian Bridge along the Angeles-Porac Road.

Meantime, Public Works Undersecretary for Unified Project Management Office Operations Emil Sadain disclosed that the project aims to stabilize the riverbed, reinforce the structural integrity of the 270-meter bridge and protect it from threat of flood inundation and damage to properties.

He added that the solution is the construction of dikes and groundsills with stepped dams at downstream of Mancatian Bridge.
