Hit Netflix fantasy series Shadow and Bone returns for a second season after it first garnered over 55 million global viewership.

The announcement was made by the series’ very own stars Jessie Mei Li, Danielle Galligan, Amit Suman, Daisy head and more through a raw video of “summoning” — an act from the show that became popular.

The second season will continue to explore the Grishaverse. According to the author and executive producer Leigh Bardugo, the upcoming episodes will introduce “more of the saints, soldier’s thugs, thieves, princes and privateers.” Hence, more actors may be seen in the continued storyline.

No final date of release yet but producers teased the fans that the second season will have eight one-hour episodes.

Shadow and Bone sheds light in a war-torn country where an orphan Alina Starkov (Jessie) has extraordinary power. Her struggles of training, creating allies and enemies are things to look forward to in the upcoming season.
