Motorcycle-riding gunmen ambushed the vehicle of former Camarines Sur 1st District Rep. Rolando Andaya Jr. in Pili town early Tuesday, but no one was hurt, police said.
Brig. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, Bicol regional police director, confirmed the incident and ordered an investigation into it.
Two men on a motorcycle fired on the vehicle driven by Andaya near a hardware store along the Maharlika Highway in Brgy. Palestina around 5:45 a.m., Estomo said, citing field reports.
A resident reported the incident to local police about two hours later, he said.
According to Estomo, Andaya survived unharmed while responding lawmen recovered two fired cartridges of a caliber-.45 gun at the crime scene.
A provincial-level special investigation team has since been formed and is continuing its probe to determine the assailants’ identities, he said.
