Tropical depression “Dante” continues to move Northwestward and is expected to bring rains over parts of Mindanao, according to PAGASA’s update late Sunday.
The center of “Dante” is estimated based on all available data at 685 km East of Davao City (6.9°N, 132.0°E) with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness up to 70 km/h.
“Dante” is moving northwestward at 15 kph.
PAGASA warned of light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Caraga and Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, Bukidnon, and Misamis Oriental due to the outer rainbands of “Dante” through Monday evening.
“Under these conditions, isolated to scattered flooding (including flash floods) and rain-induced landslides are possible, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps. Adjacent or nearby areas may also experience flooding in the absence of such rainfall occurrence due to surface runoff or swelling of river channels,” PAGASA’s 11:00 p.m. advisory said.
“Dante” is forecast to reach tropical storm category by Monday.
It is also expected to remain over the Philippine Sea throughout the forecast period. “Dante” will continue moving generally northwestward over the next three days and will likely turn generally north northwestward by Thursday and northeastward by Friday.
