Metro mayors recommend GCQ in NCR Plus

Metro Manila Council (MMC) Chairman and Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez on Monday said that 17 mayors in the National Capital Region  unanimously agreed to recommend to maintain the general community quarantine (GCQ) in the NCR Plus for the month of June.

“Ang recommendation ng ating MMC ay GCQ pa rin tayo pero merong pong magbubukas na pong negosyo,” Olivarez said in a radio interview.

President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to announce his decision on the next quarantine classification in the NCR plus during his Talk to the People scheduled tonight.

At the same time, Olivarez said that the mayors also decided to continue the curfew from 10 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“Pinag-usapan namin last week magme-maintain pa rin tayo ng curfew from 10 o’clock to 4 o’clock. Yun pa rin ang aming pinag-usapan at consensus last week,” he added.

The MMC rejected the proposal of business groups to adjust the curfew from 12 midnight to 5 a.m.

“Hindi tayo pwedeng mag-relax alam natin na bumababa ang ating mga cases pati yung situation ng ating hospitals at ICU, pero hindi pa rin kailangang mag-relax para po totally ma-contain natin ang Covid na ito,” Olivarez said.
