The Department of Agriculture at the Navotas fish port still has in custody an estimated P100,000,000 worth of smuggled frozen meat and fish confiscated in a vacant lot in the city on Wednesday.

Joint forces of the Department of Trade and Industry, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Sub-Task Group on Economic Intelligence, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, NBI and Philippine National Police raided the vacant lot in Barangay San Rafael where 12 large freezers containing the illegal products shipped from various countries were brought.

Stamps on every package of meat indicated the products came from Vietnam, China, Germany and Belgium and lacked the necessary import permits.

A criminal case has been filed against the owner of the shipment, which is already in the NBI’s possession.
