Overwatch 2 announces major change in PVP

Overwatch 2 will introduce a new PVP setup, according to Game Director Aaron Keller.

“Overwatch has always been played with two teams of six players. Overwatch 2 will be played with two teams of five players,” Keller said in an update.

Another overhaul that is set to take place in the new Overwatch is the reduction to one tank per game. Every match will now consist of two supports, two attacks, and one tank.

The update drew mixed reactions from pros and fans alike, including Overwatch League player Blake “Gator” Scott.

“Imagine spending 5 years to perfect your role just for it to be deleted while knowing your role does not translate to another you’re expected to give all you got till the end of the season,” he tweeted.

Blizzard is yet to announce a release date for Overwatch 2.
