Popular American television series WandaVision dominated the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards with four wins including Best Show and Best Performance in a Show for its lead star Elizabeth Olsen.

The show, created by Jac Schaeffer for the streaming service Disney+, features the Marvel Comics characters Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Vision. Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it takes place after the events of the film Avengers: Endgame and centers on Olsen’s character in an alternate reality in which she and her lost lover, Vision, live in sitcoms from different decades.

WandaVision bested four other hit series —The Boys, Bridgerton, Cobra Kai and Emily in Paris.

Olsen won over Michaela Coel (I May Destroy You), Emma Corrin (The Crown), Elliot Page (The Umbrella Academy) and Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen’s Gambit).

“You guys are just the greatest fans anyone can have, and I have loved playing this part for seven years,” Olsen said in her acceptance speech. “Really, nothing could have been better than to have WandaVision. We had so much fun making it and I hope we moved you…”

Kathryn Hahn, who plays powerful witch Agatha Harkness in the show, clinched the award for Best Villain, as well as Best Fight, which she shared with Olsen.

“When I was in high school, I was in the Wizard of Oz and I played the Tin Man. I really, really, really wanted to be Dorothy because I wanted those red slippers. It took a long, long, long time for me to realize that deep in there was also that wicked witch,” Hahn said in her speech, referring to her WandaVision character’s secret identity.

Anthony Mackie won Best Hero for his role of the new Captain America on another Marvel series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

The award for Best Duo also went to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which also stars Sebastian Stan.

“You guys will never know the amount of blood, sweat and tears that went into this show,” Mackie said in his speech.
