Defending MPL champion Bren Esports snatched an upper bracket spot in Group A following a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Omega Esports on the final day of MPL regular season Sunday evening.
Haze was benched for Heath after Omega secured its spot in the upper bracket in the playoffs by winning Game 1. Bren won the second game with ease then drafted Ling, Pharsa, Gloo, Grock, and Kagura while Omega took Barats, Claude, Popol and Kupa, Angela, and Uranus.
Bren rotated their roles in the final game and took control of the early going by pacifying Heath’s Grock. Not a single turret was destroyed with seven minutes into the game though kills were tied 5-5.
A team fight broke out at the lord’s pit at the 12-minute mark. Instead of forcing to take lord, KarlTzy opted to get kills with his Claude and was able to do so against Ling, Pharsa, and Kagura that helped widen their gold lead by 7,000.
Bren picked Omega apart with a split push at the 19:20 mark which paved the way for another lord take. They pushed across all lanes, destroying the final turret across all lanes then the base.
The Mobile Legends M2 world champion ended the regular season on the second spot of Group A with an 8-5 win-loss standing with 23 points on aggregate.
Earlier in the day, Execration pulled off a 2-1 victory over Aura PH.
Unfortunately for Execration, Omega’s win in the first game of its best-of -hree series against Bren sent the squad crashing to the lower bracket with a 6-7 standing and 20 aggregate points.
As teams made their way to the playoffs, Cignal Ultra and Laus Playbook Esports had bid goodbye to the tournament after they placed last in their respective groups. Cignal ended its run with a horrendous 0-13 standing while Laus had 3-10.
