The most prestigious eSports tournament ‘The International’ will be back this year with a massive prize pool of $40,018,195.
“Let it be known — the Aegis of Champions is in play once more,” Valve wrote in an update.
“After a break necessitated by world events, we’re happy to officially announce that The International 10 will take place this August in Stockholm, Sweden.”
The DOTA 2 tournament is held once a year but was called off in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The group stage for TI 10 is slated to start on August 5 to 8 with the main event kicking off August 10 to 15.
TI is known for its ability to draw massive crowds in attendance during matches, but Valve is yet to decide if fans will be allowed to watch the action live.
“As we continue to plan the event around the shifting landscape presented by the ongoing global pandemic, our focus remains on finding ways to hold a high quality tournament in the safest way possible,” the developer stated.
“This means we’re waiting to release additional details on attendance options as we gather more information on developments heading into summer. We expect to be able to share more with the community during the month of June.”
Valve also announced additional features ahead of the tourney such as Supporter Clubs which allows players to purchase bundles of badges and equipment to show off support for their favorite teams.
