Senator Christopher “Bong” Go has urged the government to give free masks to protocol violators instead of detaining them outright to keep them in the mainstream.
Go made the call after President Rodrigo Duterte has instructed police to apprehend protocol violators, particularly those not wearing masks properly to stem the spread of Covid-19.
The former Presidential aide said he has talked to the chief executive and broached the idea as a way of easing the burden of many who are reeling from the effects of the pandemic.
“While the President wants to discipline those who are not following the protocols, we both agreed that we have to help them follow it,” he said.
Since the government is really giving away masks, Go said it would be best to give the violators a chance.
