Deputy Secretary General of ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Kung Phoak lauded the timeliness of the Regional Study Report on Human Resources Development (HRD) in preparing the region’s workforce for a post-pandemic world during an online meeting held on 27 April.
The study, supplemented by ten country reports, provides baseline information on the preparedness of the Member States with its HRD policies and programs that will help their workforce be relevant, agile and resilient for the future of work.
Factors that affect today’s workforce that were determined during the meeting include the Covid-19 pandemic, digital transformation, aging societies, climate change and increasing labor migration.
The regional study was conducted in support of the implementation of the ASEAN Declaration on HRD for the Changing World of Work adopted at the 36th ASEAN Summit in 2020.
ASEAN Dialogue Partners, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Regional Cooperation Programme in Technical and Vocational Education and Training, ASEAN Secretariat, senior and national experts of study, were in attendance during the online meeting.
