Cainta, Rizal resumes today its anti-coronavirus disease vaccination program for senior citizens, its mayor announced Tuesday.

“We will resume on Wednesday our Covid-19 vaccination for senior citizens,” Mayor Johnielle Keith “Kit” Pasion Nieto said in a Facebook post.

The Cainta local government has temporarily stopped the inoculation of senior citizens after the city’s initial supply of AstraZeneca vaccine provided by the Department of Health (DoH) had been exhausted.

“Much as we want to proceed with a sustained number of daily vaccinations for our seniors, we have exhausted the allocation and we are now awaiting for the next batch of vaccines to be provided to us by the DoH,” Nieto said in an earlier post on Facebook.

“I have earlier set aside a substantial sum for possible procurement of these vaccines by our local government, but the suppliers have yet to commit on delivery,” he added.

Meanwhile, the local government continues to provide food packs to Covid-19 patients undergoing home quarantine.
