Senator Christopher “Bong” Go hailed the construction of the new Northern Tagalog Regional Hospital (NTRH) in Rodriguez, Rizal during its groundbreaking ceremony held in Barangay San Jose on Friday, April 23.

“Access to quality health care services is a right of every Filipino. We must continue to work hard towards fulfilling this goal especially amid the ongoing pandemic.”

This was the statement made by Senator Christopher “Bong” Go as he hailed the construction of the new Northern Tagalog Regional Hospital (NTRH) during its groundbreaking ceremony at Barangay San Jose in Rodriguez, Rizal last Friday, April 23

A project of the Department of Health, in coordination with the Department of Public Works and Highways, and the local government of Rodriguez, the NTRH is set to become the first DOH-run hospital in the province.

In 2019, the governors of Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Rizal and Quezon had issued a manifesto declaring the Senator, whose mother hails from the Tesoro clan of Batangas, an adopted son of Region 4-A.

As Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography and Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, Go was instrumental in pushing for the project and ensuring that the funds needed for its initial construction phases are allocated in this year’s national budget.

In a recorded message, Go offered his congratulations to the officials who worked tirelessly to make the hospital project possible. He vowed to lend his utmost support to similar initiatives that seek to improve the access and delivery of health care services to Filipinos.

“I congratulate everyone behind this initiative … This event is not only a triumphant moment but also a ray of hope for the people of Rizal in these difficult times,” began Go.

The Senator said the establishment of the NTRH is in line with the President’s goal to improve the quality of medical services, equipment and facilities provided to patients, particularly the poor and indigent, all over the country. The hospital, Go added, would also give a much-needed boost to the province’s response efforts to health crises in the future.

In his message, Go once more stressed the need for cooperation and solidarity among Filipinos in order for the country to defeat the pandemic. He reminded everyone to remain vigilant against the threat of COVID-19 and other diseases by diligently adhering to the necessary health and safety protocols issued by the government.

“We continue to work towards our vision to provide a better and effective health care system for all Filipinos. As long as we help each other and exemplify the spirit of bayanihan, we will be able to overcome any challenge including this pandemic,” said Go.

Go also applauded medical frontliners all over the country for their untiring service and sacrifice, especially amid the ongoing pandemic.

“Mga frontliners, doctors, nurses, health workers, mula po sa amin ni Pangulong (Rodrigo) Duterte, maraming, maraming salamat po sa inyong sakripisyo sa panahong ito,” said Go.

Meanwhile, Go reminded residents with medical concerns that they may conveniently avail of medical assistance from the government through any of the four Malasakit Centers in Rizal, namely Margarito A. Duavit Memorial Hospital in Binangonan, Antipolo City Hospital System Annex IV (Mambugan) in Antipolo City, Bagong Cainta Municipal Hospital in Cainta, and in Casimiro A. Ynares Sr. Memorial Hospital in Rodriguez.

Rizal 2nd District Representative Juan Fidel Nograles authored House Bill No. 6524, otherwise known as ‘An Act Establishing Northern Tagalog Regional Hospital in Montalban’. The ceremony was also witnessed by Representative Nograles, Deputy Speaker and 1-Pacman Partylist Rep. Michael Romero, Governor Rebecca Ynares, Mayor Dennis Hernandez, DOH Undersecretary Leopoldo Vega, DOH CALABARZON Regional Director Eduardo Janairo, and Rizal Provincial DOH Team Leader Gerardo Mejorada.

Moreover, Go urged the government to further intensify its efforts to build more modular hospitals to cater to severe and critical COVID-19 patients amid the urgent need to augment medical facilities in the country, particularly in Metro Manila, due to the rising number of new COVID-19 cases.
