Hollywood actress Drew Barrymore is cooking up a storm with her first-ever collaboration with “culinary partner in crime,” Filipina chef Pilar Valdes.
The 46-year-old celebrity made the announcement last 21 April.
Drew and Pilar unveiled a gigantic version of the book on the talk show, the cookbook titled ‘Rebel Homemaker: Food, Family, Life,’ and the cover featuring a photo of Drew happily eating pasta from a bowl.
It is set to be released in November.
As a teaser, the two sampled one of their recipes, the Vietnamese-inspired lemongrass beef skewers.
Drew reveals in the episode that she and Pilar have been working on the project for several months now. Pilar describes their three-year relationship as a “wonderful journey.” Pilar is Drew’s chef as well as the chef and co-owner of Kickshaw Cookery, a catering business.
“It’s been such a wonderful journey. When we first started working together it was around the kitchen island and we had like cookbooks and we’re just sharing stories, talking about food. That’s where I think the idea of the cookbook was born,” Pilar said.
According to Pilar, Drew is a “dreamer,” and the book project was her idea from the start.
Drew reminisces the beginning of their friendship and how it helped her cope through a difficult period in her life.
“I met you at a point in my life where I was living in a rental apartment. I was moving from Los Angeles to New York. I was looking to start new endeavors so that I could be home with my kids,” Drew shares.
Drew is also launching her lifestyle magazine, ‘Drew,’ in addition to the forthcoming cookbook. This month, she revealed that her magazine, ‘Drew,’ will be launching in June with Bauer Media Group. — Lovelyn B. Cabusao, intern
