PALO, Leyte — The Department of Health (DoH) in Eastern Visayas sent 11 nurses to the National Capital Region (NCR) to beef up the shortage of healthcare workers as the surge of coronavirus disease continues.
The group is the second batch of healthcare workers from the region that were sent to NCR this month.
To recal, 16 medical workers consisting of one doctor and 15 nurses were sent and are currently deployed at the Lung Center of the Philippines on 7 April.
DoH-8 regional information officer Jelyn Malibago disclosed that the 11 nurses in the latest deployment will be assigned at the Philippine Heart Center until 21 June 2021.
He added that among the 11 nurses, three are from Leyte, one from Southern Leyte, one from Eastern Samar and six from Biliran provinces.
Like in the first batch of healthcare workers that were sent to NCR, Malibago said the 11 nurses underwent RT-PCR test and were all negative of the coronavirus disease 2019 infection.
