The Pasig City government has set up a temporary holding area to decongest hospitals amid the surge of coronavirus cases in the city.
“These are very difficult times… hospitals are full. It’s difficult to find vacant rooms in the hospitals, even in our neighboring cities/provinces. Sometimes the patient can no longer breathe, but for more than 2 or 3 hours our ambulance was looking for a place to take us,” Mayor Vico Sotto said in a social media post.
“This is part of our response to the big problem. Still not enough maybe, but this will help somehow: We set up a temporary holding area that looks like an extension of the emergency rooms,” the mayor added.
The temporary holding area will be used for moderate cases that hospitals cannot yet accept, Sotto said.
