Hashira stuns Bren Esports in VCT Stage 2 Final cliffhanger

Hashira has pulled off a major upset in the local pro-Valorant scene following a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Bren Esports in the Final of VCT Challengers PH Stage 2 Week 1 late Tuesday.

Composed of 2766, Hatred, invy, JRemY, and Rabbet, Hashira staved off a determined Bren Esports side in the deciding game after squandering a 2-1 lead to claim the win and the P60,000 prize purse. With the victory, Hashira is automatically seeded to Challengers 2.

Tied after four games, Hashira found Bren one tough nut to crack in the tightly-contested decider with the teams locked at 8-8 after 16 rounds. Hashira found an opening after Bren committed costly misplays and then put up perfectly executed spike plants to create enough cushion before cruising to a 13-10 win that sealed the series.

Bren’s Dispenser, BORKUM, JessieVash, DubsteP, and whoME started off red-hot in Game 1 with their Killjoy, Sova, Jett, Omen, and Phoenix. BORKUM stood out with his on-point fragging with Phoenix that helped his team take an early 7-1 lead.

Hashira refused to go down without a fight as the squad scored eight points to narrow Bren’s lead to 10-9. Bren’s map of choice Haven proved to be a handful for the opposing team as they scored the next three points to win Game 1.

Hashira looked to even the score in Game 2 at Ascent with their Raze, Omen, Sage, Sova, and Skye composition, taking a massive 8-0 lead. Invy’s Skye was too much for Bren as he copped a 13-1-7 KDA in eight rounds.

Bren fought back to breathe down Hashira’s neck, 11-9, after 20 rounds. Hashira using its mastery of Ascent countered with two straight points to close out the game.

Hashira controlled Game 3 in Bind early only to see Bren sprung back to life behind JessieVash’s Sova that led the team in kills and detection with his Recon Bolt and Owl Drone.

Despite his efforts, Bren yielded the game to Hashira, 13-9.

Bren and Hashira looked even at Icebox in Game 4 with both teams splitting the first eight rounds. BORKUM then started to frag like crazy again with his Reyna allowing Bren to build momentum and win the match to force a Game 5 in Split.

Bren picked Raze, Killjoy, Sage, Reyna, and Omen for their final lineup while Hashira was composed of Killjoy, Omen, Breach, Raze, and Jett.
