At about this time last year, all plans made to celebrate vacation season 2020 were scrapped following the declaration of a monthlong enhanced community quarantine beginning 17 March 2020.

This was extended for another two weeks and later replaced by a modified enhanced community quarantine. When the month of June rolled in and the situation was downgraded to a general community quarantine, we were able to heave a collective sigh of relief.

Part of the fun of being in the water is to indulge in a variety of activities, such as fishing, surfing or just plain splashing on the beach.

While we were troubled by the lack of transportation and were adapting to the health and safety protocols imposed by the government, the hot summer days passed us by, replaced by the rainy season. All thoughts of vacation were set aside to be resumed, hopefully, this year.

After being kept at home for almost a year, kids can finally play in the water, or perhaps ride a horse when it is available.

Palm tree-lined coastlines define most people’s idea of a summer vacation.

With the Inter-Agency Task Force issuing Regulation 101 last 26 February 2021, which imposed uniform travel regulations nationwide to allow the local tourism and hospitality businesses to recover from the onslaught of the coronavirus health crisis, many are looking forward to the opportunity to cross Metro Manila’s boundaries and finally unwind somewhere far away.

Considering that the Philippines is an archipelago, a beach is always just within reach.

So, shall we finally call it a day and frolic under the sun, get our toes wet, splash in the water, and bask in the refreshing warmth of the sea?
