Armed men on Friday reportedly abducted a policeman in Norzagaray, Bulacan, police said Saturday.
Brig. Gen. Valeriano de Leon, Central Luzon regional police director, ordered an in-depth investigation into the reported abduction of Cpl. Nikkol Jhon Santos, assigned in Pandi town.
According to a report from the Bulacan PNP, Santos was abducted around 7 a.m. Friday, in Sitio Padling, Brgy. Matictic.
Santos and companions Sammy Bedonia and Rolando Beltran were riding two motorcycles when they were suddenly blocked by a Starex van.
Four men with rifles alighted from the van, held them at gunpoint, and ordered them to drop to the ground.
Santos, Bedonia, and Beltran were handcuffed, then the gunmen forced the policeman into their van and fled, the report said.
Bedonia and Beltran were left at the area, still handcuffed, it added.
“We will exert all our efforts and look into the bottom of this,” De Leon said.
Col. Lawrence Cajipe, Bulacan police director, said investigation and follow-up operations are underway, in hopes of recovering Santos.
Friday’s incident came on the heels of the abduction of two other policemen in Sta. Mesa and Binondo districts of Manila on Feb. 24 and Feb. 18.
The abductions in Manila were also carried out by armed men on four-wheeled vehicles, reports said.
