Members of the 55th IB clashed with the militants in Brgy. Tamporong on Wednesday.
Troops conducted combat operations amid reports on the presence of the Maute group’s armed members in the hinterlands, the report said.
The firefight lasted for almost 5 hours, before the militants fled.
Soldiers later recovered an improvised bomb, IED paraphernalia, various types of ammunition, food rations, and personal belongings, including an infant’s cradle, in the militants’ lair.
