Sara dismisses 2022 presidential bid; urges supporters to uplift lives of Pinoys

DAVAO CITY — The President’s daughter, Davao Mayor Sara Duterte called on her supporters urging her to run for President to instead help in providing assistance to those who are in need in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a video released by her office Monday, the young Duterte said she believes that “even if we will not run for President, in our show of strength and unity, we are able to uplift many Filipino families in need.”

“Let us instead use our power and resources to give food to those who are short on money and hungry and create jobs for those who lost their livelihood,” she said.

Duterte made the call as movements calling her to run for President have snowballed as posters for the purpose have been placed in key locations in many parts of the country, including in her city.

She said she and her supporters agree “that we shall be the change that we want to see in the world, let us the world how it is appropriately done.”

As she expressed her gratitude to these supporters, she said: The unity and strength that you have shown gave me comfort knowing that I have friends like you.”

“Hindi na po kailangang ulit-ulitin natin ang panawagan sa tarpaulin at motorcade dahil naririnig ko po kayo at naiintindihan ko ang nasa puso ninyo, dahil ako man ang may ganoon din na nararamdaman,”the mayor said.

The Tribune has recently reported that the young Duterte is being tapped to replace her father come 2022 elections alongside Senator Bong Go as her Vice President.
