Vice mayor, town engineer killed; 1 other hurt in Zambo Sibugay shooting

The vice mayor and town engineer of Mabuhay, Zamboanga Sibugay, died and another person was injured after being shot by a still unidentified assailant just outside the municipal hall this afternoon, police reported.
Vice Mayor Resituto Calonge and municipal engineer Edgar Pampanga succumbed to bullet wounds to the different parts of the body, according to a report from the provincial police.
Injured was one Abduhari Gapor.
The incident occurred in front of the municipal hall in Brgy. Poblacion, around 3:05 p.m.
Calonge, Pampanga, and Gapor were having a conversation when an unidentified person walked towards the three, then shot them several times, the report said.
Calonge and Pampanga died on the spot, while Gapor was brought to the hospital.
Police have yet to determine the identity and motive of the assailant, who is said to have fled on a motorcycle after the attack.
Pursuit operations by local police are still ongoing, while lawmen in neighboring towns were directed to conduct checkpoints in hopes of intercepting the assailant.
