Panelo hails government workers’ salary increase

Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Secretary Salvador Panelo on Friday welcomed the good news of government employees receiving higher salaries starting this month in accordance with the Second Tranche of the Salary Standardization Law of 2019.

During his online program, “Counterpoint,” Panelo said no less than Budget Secretary Wendel Avisado announced the news via the issuance of National Budget Circular 584 dated 6 January 2021.

It was issued to prescribe the guidelines, rules, and regulations for the implementation of the second tranche of the modified Salary Schedule for Civilian Personnel stipulated under Republic Act 11466.

The Department of Budget and Management said the Circular covers all positions for civilian personnel, whether regular, casual, or contractual in nature, appointive or elective, full-time or part-time, now existing or hereafter created in the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branches, the Constitutional Commissions and other Constitutional Offices, SUC (State Universities and Colleges), and GOCC (Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations), not covered by RA 10149, which are under the jurisdiction of the DBM.
