The Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported the arrest of a Korean national wanted in South Korea for operating an online prostitution site.

According to BI Commissioner Jaime Morente the suspect was arrested on the morning of 20 January 2021 in Amor Riverside Anunas, Angeles City Pampanga in an operation conducted by the BI Fugutive Search Unit operatives.

BI chief identified the suspect as Seo Jungnam, 41-year-old. He said that the operation is in coordination with the Korean authorities and conducted upon the receipt of information that Seo is a fugitive in Korea, with an Interpol Seoul Notice issued last December 2020.

Wanted at home
BI FSU chief Bobby Raquepo said Seo has been in the country since 2015 and is a suspect in a sexual exploitation and prostitution case in Korea for allegedly placing prostitution advertisements online
Requepo added an arrest warrant was issued against Seo by the Uijeongbu District Court in Korea in 2018.

Illegal stay
Seo, along with his other accomplices, reportedly earned a profit of approximately 32 million Korean won or P1.3 million by operating the online prostitution site under the name Playboy.

“We received information from our Korean counterparts that Seo’s passport is also undergoing revocation, making him an undocumented alien,” Raquepo shared.

Seo will be presented to the BI’s Legal Division for inquest and shall be turned over to the BI’s Warden Facility in Taguig following Covid-19 testing.
