The Bicol regional police leadership has ordered the relief of a lawman caught in a raid against illegal drugs in Daet, Camarines Norte.
SMSgt. Jacky De Mesa Palomar, of the Provincial Mobile Force Company, has been re-assigned to the Regional Holding and Accounting Unit while criminal and administrative charges are being prepared, regional police director Brig. Gen. Bartolome Bustamante said.
Bustamante ordered a swift investigation and had Palomar’s government-issued firearm recalled.
“He (Palomar) shall also be issued an automatic leave of absence that shall kindle the cutoff of his salary, and will also undergo drug testing,” he added.
The orders came a day after Palomar and his partner Mylene Delos Reyes, 29, were arrested in a raid by police, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, and military intelligence personnel in Purok 6, Brgy. Magang, Daet, on Wednesday.
Operatives implemented a search warrant for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Law against the two, who are reportedly members of the so-called Rey Gutierrez drug group.
Palomar and Delos Reyes yielded some 50 grams or about P350,000 worth of suspected shabu, a carnapped Toyota Hilux, a caliber-.9mm pistol, and one magazine loaded with 15 rounds of live ammunition.
