As soon as Janine Gutierrez inked her new contract with ABS-CBN last 15 January, netizens immediately pitched their dream projects for her including the premier role of Filipino superhero, Darna despite Jane de Leon who had already been presented by the network company’s bosses as the chosen one.
Netizens immediately shared Janine’s contract signing photos expressing their desire that that 31-year-old actress should play Darna. This is contrary to recent rumors that Janine will play the villain role, Valentina.

To justify their sentiments, Twitter users mentioned Janine’s recent accolades including Gawad Urian and FAMAS 2020 Best Actress awards for her movie Babae at Baril.
They added that it was a heroic move by Janine to stand in solidarity with Kapamilya artists when the network was shut down last May. Further, her eloquence in sharing socially aware sentiments makes her a “Darna material.”

Janine transferred to the Kapamilya network last 15 January.

Another project proposal for the actress is a film with Kapamilya stars Kathryn Bernardo and Liza Soberano.
However, Janine’s sure project as of now is a romance film with Paulo Avelino Ngayon Kaya. Its supposed April 2020 release was pushed back due to the pandemic and might come out instead in March or May this year.

Amar a Muerte will also cast Ian Veneracion, Arjo Atayde, RK Bagatsing, Roxanne Guinoo, Miko Raval, Sue Ramirez, Charlie Dizon, Joshua Colet, Claire Ruiz, Anna Luna and Gina Pareño.
