The holidays may be over, but ABS-CBN TFC gives viewers an extended treat: catch three 2020 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entries Fan Girl, The Boy Foretold by the Stars and Mang Kepweng: Ang Lihim ng Bandanang Itim, via iWantTFC, Ktx.ph and TFC IPTV.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, MMFF was held differently compared to the previous years. Instead of people lining up at the cinemas, they were able to watch the official entries in the comfort of their homes through streaming.

ABS-CBN TFC extends this experience to movie enthusiasts overseas by letting them enjoy three of the movies in the MMFF 2020 lineup via an online platform.

In Fan Girl, actress Charlie Dizon gives life to the character of Jane, a high school fangirl who is obsessed with actor Paulo Avelino, who plays himself in the film. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Antoinette Jadaone, the film was described by Hollywood Reporter as “a film that could be well appreciated on the international festival circuit.”

The film bagged the most number of awards at the 2020 MMFF: Best Picture, Best Actor for Paulo Avelino, Best Actress for Charlie Dizon, Best Director for Antoinette Jadaone, Best Screenplay, Best Editing, Best Cinematography and Best Sound.

The Boy Foretold by the Stars stars Adrian Lindayag, a theater actor who recently has been playing supporting roles on television; and Keann Johnson, a model who is making his way in the world of acting.

Adrian plays a gay student named Dominic who is told by a fortune teller that he is about to meet his soulmate and gives him three signs to know who that person could be. Keann is Luke, a varsity player who recently broke up with his girlfriend, which leads him to join a retreat where he will meet Adrian. They hit it off instantly, which also stirs up unfamiliar emotions.

The film won three 2020 MMFF awards: Second Best Picture, Best Original Theme Song and Gender Sensitivity Award.

The movie Mang Kepweng: Ang Lihim ng Bandanang Itim stars Vhong Navarro, who is known for his antics which is seen daily in the variety show It’s Showtime.
