Communication education gets a boost as the Daily Tribune and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) hold the ceremonial signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) on journalism partnership at the school’s Manila campus on Wednesday morning.
Daily Tribune Executive Vice President Maria Bettina Fernandez and PUP Vice President Anna Ruby Gapasin will lead the MOA signing at the PUP College of Communication at 10 a.m. to be broadcast on Facebook Live and Zoom.
Under the MOA, the Daily Tribune and PUP will work to fulfill the College of Communication Extension and Linkages Program. The media organization will provide PUP students and teachers training, seminars, workshops, colloquia, lecture and immersion on relevant media issues and concerns.
The Daily Tribune shall also provide internship and job placement for qualified PUP students, provide resource persons for PUP faculty, provide digital platforms for the students and faculty, and tie up with PUP student organizations for mutually beneficial projects.
PUP, in turn, shall arrange for the use of appropriate venues, provide logistic support and participants, recommend students and faculty members who will assist the Daily Tribune and its affiliates and industry allies on research, fact-checking, news and investigative reporting, and citizen journalism efforts.
The university shall also recommend qualified students and faculty members as broadcast talents and participants in documentary production of The Daily Tribune and its affiliates and industry allies.
