As livelihoods of many Filipinos continue to be hampered by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, Senator Christopher “Bong” Go shared the Christmas spirit by distributing aid to 922 fisherfolks in Talisay City, Cebu.
In two separate distribution batches held in San Roque Gym and Tabunok Gym, Go’s team provided meals, food packs, masks, face shields, and vitamins to the beneficiaries.
The senator has urged the public to strictly follow health protocols to safeguard themselves and their communities from the threats of COVID-19 and other diseases this holiday season and reminded the fisherfolks to use masks and face shields in their day-to-day transactions.
During the distribution activities, Go’s team made sure necessary health protocols were strictly followed to protect the community from the further spread of COVID-19 and other diseases.
The lawmaker also assured the beneficiaries that once a safe and effective vaccine for COVID-19 becomes available in the market, he and President Rodrigo Duterte will prioritize the poor and the vulnerable.
Meantime, bicycles were distributed to selected recipients for their commute to work as public transportation remains a challenge during the pandemic while others received tablets for their children’s use in online classes as part of their blended learning being implemented in schools.
Go stressed that beneficiaries with medical conditions can seek assistance in any of the nearby Malasakit Centers located at the Talisay City District Hospital in Talisay City, Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center and St. Anthony Mother & Child Hospital both in Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital in Lapu-Lapu City, and Eversley Childs Sanitarium and General Hospital in Mandaue City.
