It is the media company’s humble support for business startups or for people trying to recover from joblessness.
Milk teas are still among the food trends, a fact that went unnoticed by the owners of 1010 Cafe. Born out of love for businesses and, of course, milk teas — mainly the matcha-flavored one — Pauline Cinco and Xian Manalo found the perfect mix with a Korean-inspired cafe that offers perfectly brewed tea blends inside perfume-inspired bottles can satisfy not just cravings but also Instagram feeds. 1010 Cafe started out with its classic flavors: Cloud, Sunset, Ichigo and Matcha.
Add Wenndrei’s Homemade Cuisine’s Filipino delicacies to the puto bumbong on the table for Christmas. Wenndrei’s was also born during the pandemic. Complete the holiday vibe with their affordable specialties and bestsellers, all made from recipes passed down and shared through Anna Marie Napod’s family: the Maja Blanca and biko, which are both priced at P50, and cassava cake for P100 are highly recommended.
Feed rumbling stomachs with quick munchies such as healthy snacks and sausages. For extra income, owner Abigail Quinto juggles two businesses, Meatpond and Chichabox, and a job on the side. Meatpond offers sausages, ham, bacon (and perhaps seafood in the future) while Chichabox, from the word chicha, balances the equation with healthy snacks like nuts, almonds and dried fruits.
Akachan Food Hub is the answer to those who are craving for something sweet and salty. Sweet delights such as sans rival, silvanas, pastillas, caramel bars, butterscotch and shortbreads paired with a pinch of saltiness on the side with varieties of chicharon and bucheron. Founded mid-August this year, owner Hershey Fernandez thought that distributing local delicacies from provinces can be another way to earn money.
L. Dorado’s brings Ilocos’ best to your doorsteps. Started in 2018 with her Ilocano husband, owner Judy Ann Villarante-Dorado thought of distributing delicacies such as the famous Vigan longganisa, bagnet, sukang Iloko, chichacorn, assorted chips, dilis and a lot more to the metro. They also have frozen goods like premium bacon, Hungarian sausage, among others, and different types of maki.
Meñez Sweets opened the second half of the online bazaar with their sweet treats. The Caloocan-based pastry shop founded by sisters Camille and Chelsea Meñez specializes in yema and minimalist cakes. Their craftsmanship reflects well on every client’s cake for any occasion.
This was followed by a newly-built food enterprise, Dighay. The business got inspired by the inaccessibility of authentic chicken poppers around Quezon City. As a response, Nutrition graduate Vannessa Nava made her own. The packaging of its products is also rooted in sustainability and Filipino culture.
Representing Japanese cuisine is Setsuna. Owner Nicca Francisco offers Japan-inspired ramen, milk tea and coffee for an affordable price. Everything’s better with sauce. To fulfill one’s saucy craving is owner Lorenzo Antonio Aguas’ The Sauce Boss. Its bestseller is the homemade marinara sauce best for pre-dinner spreads.
All set for the holiday season is Brie & Butter. Crafting cinnamon rolls with love, Brie Aguas believes that every order can please the heart. Going around the world is a Filipino-Mexican food joint, Tres Chickas owned by Maricar Ventura and Jenny Miraflores. The promising store in Quezon City can fill tummies with their delicious tacos, chicken tenders, quesadillas and more.
Starting in her lovely village, Sofia Pacaña put up 2020 Village with assorted sweets. Currently, it offers delectable choices decorated with holiday colors and packaging. Putting the sweet tooth to the extreme is M&M’s Leche Flan owned by Marrienne Santos and Marcos Louis Orabello. Perfect to add to your holiday spread is their luscious yet affordable leche flans that could put you in a good mood.
Capping the last leg of sellers is a startup cosmetic company based in Las Piñas, Peach Formula. Their beautifully curated creamy lip products and exquisite lashes are for the ladies among the family and peers, all thanks to the passion of college student Peaches Daphne Nadales.
