The seven-episode Netflix Series The Queen’s Gambit released last 23 October has obtained more than 62 million views globally making it the biggest limited series to date.
The hit mini-series follows a story of an orphan chess prodigy Beth Harmon during the Cold War Era.
From the age of eight, she traverses her quest to become the greatest chess player in the world.
Apart from the small-screen success, the 37-year old novel of the same name written by Walter Tevis which the series was based on climbed back into The New York Times bestseller list.
Further, the International Chess Federation also confirmed that the Netflix series led to higher interest in next year’s World Championship.
Lead actress Anya Taylor Joy took her gratitude to the viewers and production team through an Instagram post.
“To our beautiful cast and crew, it has been an honor to build this world with you – thank you for the smiles, the tears, the growth,” she wrote.
