Selena Gomez’s fans fumes at American Sitcom ‘Saved by the Bell’ for mocking the singer’s kidney transplant in its latest episode.
In a scene, two students were casually talking about Selena’s surgery.
“I know for a fact that Selena Gomez’s kidney donor was Justine Bieber’s mom. God, I wish that I had my phone so that I could prove it,” a student says.
To which another student frantically replies, “Prove what? That you’re an idiot? It was Demi Lovato’s kidney. They’re best friends like you and I were.”
Another scene shown also includes a wall spray-painted with “Does Selena Gomez even have a kidney.”
Enraged fans landed ‘Respect Selena Gomez’ on Twitter trending list.
Meanwhile, Peacock, the show’s executive, apologized over the matter.
“It was never our intention to make light of Selena’s health,” said Peacock to Hollywood Life.
It added that their team is keeping in touch with the 28 year-old’s foundation, The Selena Gomez Fund for Lupus Research at USC.
In 2017, Selena underwent a kidney transplant due to Lupus complications. Her best friend, Francia Raisa was her kidney donor.
