Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar are not yet of the hook despite President Rodrigo Duterte’s statement that they still enjoy his full trust and confidence, according to the spokesperson of Mega Task Force.

In an interview over DZBB, DOJ spokesperson and Undersecretary Emmeline Aglipay-Villar said that the two secretaries will still be included in the investigation if there will be evidence linking them in allegedly anomalous transaction in the government.

Villar clarified that she will not be part of any investigation in view of her being the wife of Secretary Villar.

“Hindi po ako kasama sa investigating panel, tagapagsalita lang po ako,” Villar said, referring to the investigation of the Mega Task Force on the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

At the same time, Villar said the core group of the Mega Task Force held a meeting yesterday to discuss the direction of the probes.  Among those who had met were officials of the National Bureau of Investigation, Commission on Audit and DoJ.

Villar explained that cases that will be prioritized by the task force will depend on the amount involved and the officials being dragged in the complaints. She added  the task force has enough time to file cases less than two years before Duterte’s term ends in 2022.

“Sa tingin marami na kaming makakasuhan at matatapos na imbestigasyon…itong one year and a half ay sapat na sa task force para marami kaming maimbestiga at makasuhan sa mga ahensiya ng gobyerno,” she added.
