DoTr’s Traze enhances contact-tracing system

Published
2 years agoon

The Department of Transportation (DoTr) has soft launched Traze, a mobile phone application in main air hubs to strengthen the country’s contact-tracing capacity.
Co-developed by the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) and Cosmotech Philippines Inc., TRAZE is a nationwide and unified QR (quick response)-based app that will automate the contact tracing of agencies under the DoTr’s Aviation and Airports sectors.
The contact tracing app will be simultaneously pilot-tested at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay, Clark Internal Airport in Pampanga, Mactan-Cebu International Airport and Davao International Airport on Wednesday. Other airports will soon follow.
All departing and arriving air passengers are now required to download the app on their mobile phones and register before proceeding to the airport.
Passengers who do not have mobile phones or other mobile gadgets may go to the Malasakit Helpdesk for registration assistance to get a unique QR code or ask a family member to register them.
By using a QR code, which can be used at any DoTr office, Traze speeds up the tedious manual contact tracing process.
Once a COVID-19 positive case is identified, an in-app notification will be sent to individuals who may have had contact with the patient so they may immediately isolate themselves and follow health protocols to manage and contain the spread of the viral disease.
Compliant with Republic Act 1017 or the Data Privacy Act, Traze has complete modules to trace individuals, establishments, logistics, and transportation systems such as trains, vessels, airplanes, taxis and other public utility vehicles, including tricycles.
By 28 November, the use of Traze will be mandatory for all air passengers nationwide.
