Eastern Visayas records 116 new cases

Eastern Visayas recorded 116 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on Friday, the second time the region breached the 100-mark in October.
Department of Health-Eastern Visayas reported that out of 1,154 laboratory samples tested in two laboratories, 137 samples turned out positive — 116 new cases and 21 confirmatory tests of previously tested positive patients.
The last time new cases breached the 100-mark was on 13 October, when 173 new cases were reported from 1,198 samples tested.
The 116 new cases included 48 from Leyte, 41 from Northern Samar and 21 from Western Samar.
Regional center Tacloban City only had two new cases. As of 22 October, it has 878 total cases with 822 recoveries and 15 deaths.
Overall, Eastern Visayas has a total of 6,265 infections with 5,260 recoveries, 58 COVID-related deaths and 946 active cases.
